Samsung’s Galaxy S11 arrives in 2020, but insider Evan Blass has started talking about what the latest flagship will offer. Blass, whose track record on these matters is reliable, laid out some specifications on the three variants expected to launch early next year.
Model names aren’t referred to, but it’s believed that Samsung will follow last year’s approach. That would mean there should be a Galaxy S11, Galaxy S11+, and Galaxy S11e to choose from. Display sizes, Blass says, will measure at 6.2 or 6.4 inches for the smallest variant while the others are 6.7 and 6.9 inches.
The Galaxy S10 lineup features smaller displays. Samsung shipped the Galaxy S10e with a 5.8-inch display, and the Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch display. The Galaxy S10+, meanwhile, has a 6.4-inch display. Going by this leak, it appears Samsung wants to significantly expand screen real estate across all models.
Just prepare for this, too: Samsung will ship all variants with curved displays. The Galaxy S10e allows consumers to ditch the sloped edges most Samsung flagships are famous for, but you won’t be able to avoid them in 2020.
The Infinity Edge display, which stretches to nearly every edge, will be standard. It’s unclear if there will be a hole-punch, notch, or in-display component to store the camera. Perhaps another leak will expose that information.
As for connectivity, Blass claims you’ll be able to purchase the smaller variants in LTE and 5G and flavors. The larger variant, however, will carry a required 5G modem and thus cost much more. Still, owners of this Galaxy S11 variant are able to fall back on LTE networks.
Finally, the leak indicates that Samsung will introduce the 2020 flagship line in mid-to-late February. Samsung could then start shipping units around the world in March. Assuming that’s accurate, the Galaxy S11 should appear at Mobile World Congress. The trade show takes place February 24-27. Other hardware manufacturers will participate, but Samsung’s Galaxy S11 will likely earn every last bit of attention.
